I usually alternate between themed and themeless puzzles, but when I took a fresh look at the themed puzzle I intended to post today, I wasn’t thrilled with it. So here’s next week’s planned puzzle a week early.
The seeds for this grid were 6D/20A and 7D. My favorite clue is 29A – it’s not a pun or misdirect, but a beautiful quote I ran across somewhere.

This played very challenging for me! I made a number of incorrect initial choices at 16A, 36A (was thinking of another kind of repro), and 47A (was thinking of ‘The Troubles’). I was completely flummoxed by 34A and 26D and had to reveal their intersection. 55A and 41D were similarly challenging, both qualifying as TILs for me, along with 40A and 56D. Favorite clues = 9A, 6D and 13D. Minor typo: in 10D, ‘roughly’ needs an ‘l’.
