Fair warning: I had a bit of fun while cluing today’s puzzle. I hope the result, while challenging, is still fun and perhaps even amusing.
One explanatory note regarding 52 Down: a “fake book” is a compendium of lead sheets, which give the melody line and chords of a song but not a full arrangement. They’re useful in settings where an amateur musician might not know all the tunes.

I started out off by one letter at 12A, but eventually realized my error! LOTS of fun clueing (as always). Favorites = 18A, 61A, 17D, 20D, the pairing of 47D/48D and, most of all, 54D. Never knew Starbucks offered a 40A! A couple of comments: 1) for since 52A is a declaration, should the clue be one as well?, and 2) is 30D an abbreviation for two US states?

Thanks, Jeanne, glad you enjoyed it! I changed the clue on 52A a couple of times and I see what you’re saying about declaration v question, but I’m OK with it as is. It never occurred to me that 30D would would work as two states as well. (S. Car. or SC and AR). I changed the clue on the online version to reflect that.
