This is a thoroughly reworked version of the themed puzzle I decided not to post last week. How reworked? I kept the four theme answers, chose a new revealer and title, and scrapped everything else. Enjoy!

Despite my rabid baseball fandom, I somehow have never known, until now, that the ‘thingy’ on the screen is called a score bug!! This was fun; I’m curious to know what your original revealer and title were. When I saw what 19-Across was going to be, I was thinking each theme answer was going to be a proper name inside a kind of meat (thus, zombie-ish in nature). Great pairing of 57- and 62-Across. 51-Down made me smile.

That was fantastic! I’m an intermediate solver, this was very difficult for me, but well worth it. I had SH**FORBRAINS for a while, lol, but it just didn’t serve “as an action, the title of this puzzle”. Loved the clueing, creative and totally fair (loved 46D, spent a while trying to imagine how one might mount ANGELS). The theme was great and very helpful. I got the BRAIN scramble part early and couldn’t have solved without it. Thanks!

Thank you so much! And thanks for sticking with the puzzle despite the difficulty. Generally the mid-week puzzles (mini and midi) are a bit less challenging than the weekend ones. On the weekend, the themed puzzles like this one tend to be NYT Thursday-Friday difficulty and the themeless ones are Saturday+.
