The seeds for today’s puzzle were 1 Across and 6 Across, after which I had fun playing around with different uses of “scale.” I’m also happy to include my one of my very favorite female rock singers at 14 Across. Here’s a video of her singing a great John Prine song, “Angel from Montgomery.”

So fun! I love all the uses of SCALE. Fantastic clues for your seeds. Other favorites = 12A, 15A and 6D (smiled at your subtle TSE reference). Also love the appearance of the grid…kind of like a propeller. I’m a fan of 14A, too. On another musical note, your photo inspired me to play Steely Dan’s “The Caves of Altamira”.

The Caves of Altamira is a terrific song from my favorite Steely Dan album. The whole album is deliciously dark.
